Augusta SSD and SSI Benefits Lawyer
Key Steps to Getting Social Security Benefits
When you choose Stephen H. Hagler LLC, you will have a lawyer on your side who has helped people in Georgia and South Carolina get Social Security disability insurance (SSDI) and supplemental security income (SSI) since 1991. Attorney Hagler can help you through every step in the process:
- Initial Application
- The first step is to apply for SSDI or SSI benefits. Filing your claim is the most straightforward aspect of the process, and many people choose to do it without the assistance of a lawyer. We encourage you to do it yourself. We are certainly here to help and to answer your questions.
- Reconsideration
- If you get a notice of denial of your initial application, don’t be surprised. The majority of SSDI and SSI claimants are initially denied. This is not the end of the line. A notice of reconsideration must be filed within 60 days, and then the real work begins. We will prepare the reconsideration on your behalf. This involves making certain that all medical records are in order and even getting written opinions from doctors that speak to your limitations.
- Social Security Hearing
- If your notice of reconsideration is also denied, we will request a Social Security hearing. The Social Security hearing is our best opportunity to get you the benefits you need. At a hearing, we can make certain that your case comes to life in front of an administrative law judge. The decision will no longer be made based on a bunch of paper, but on your story. We know how to achieve success at Social Security hearings. Usually, the process ends here.
- Appeal
- If your SSDI or SSI claim is denied at the hearing level, your case can be appealed. We will take the matter in front of the Social Security Appeals Council, and if we do not succeed there, we can go as far as filing a lawsuit in federal district court. We will take the necessary steps to get what is right for you.
No charge unless we get results
All cases are handled on a contingency basis, which means we don’t charge unless we get results. If we are successful, we will only ask for a percentage of the past due benefits you are entitled to. This percentage is set and capped by statute.
